The Davis/Watkins Family of Dravosburg, Pa.

In Fort Worth, Texas it is:
This site is the Brain Child of Donald Richard (Ducky)Davis , the Twelve child of Fred Davis and Grace Watkins Davis. I was born on the 10th Day of April in 1941, at 31 Elizabeth Street, Dravosburg, Allegheny County, Pa. At birth, I had three brothers and eight sisters. My mother died when I was one year and seven month's. Beside loosing my mother, I lost a baby sister at this same time.
After Mom's death, our family seperated. Some struck out on their own while my brothers, David, Robert, and my sisters, Katherine, Helen, Nancy and I moved in with my Grand Mother, Annie Lewis Watkins who lived across the hollow (about a hundred yards as the crow flies) 32 N. Clay Street (Note Red Map Tact for exact location). Prior to Grandma taking us in, she had only her son David and her daughter Annie living at home.
My sister's Ruth Ann and Roberta (Robert's twin sister) moved two hollows over (aproximately 500 yards as the crow flies) to live with my Mom's sister Lyda and her husband James Hughes. The Hughes lived on Mound Street.
Grandma raised us until she passed away in 1947 at which time Aunt Annie and Uncle Tiber (David Watkins) continued to raise us and we remained at Grandma's home. We continued to live in Dravosburg until I completed seventh grade of school at which time Aunt Annie, Uncle Tiber, Robert and I moved to a rented home in Liberty Boro, about four miles away on the other side (East) of the Monogahella River and South of the Youghany River.
As you see, by this time Kassie, Helen and Nancy were now on their own and David (Scoogie) was off serving our country during the police action in Korea.
We resided in Liberty Boro. until 1959 after I graduated from McKeesport Vocational High School. I joined the United States Marine Corps and departed for Marine Corps Recruit Training at Parris Island, South Carolina on 11 August 1959.
